Teachings of Sathya Sai Baba
Through his speeches and writings, Sathya Sai Baba has offered a veritable ocean of knowledge and guidance on all aspects of spiritual, religious, and value-oriented living. He teaches that man's basic nature is Divine and that the purpose of life is the realisation of this Divinity. As he says, this can be realized by leading a moral life, by rendering selfless service to those in need, by engaging in devotional practices, and by developing love, respect, and compassion for all life.
Sathya Sai Baba teaches that all religions are expressions of these same universal principles. He urges mankind to:
- believe in God, for there is only one God for all mankind, though he may be called by many names
- follow the respective religions sincerely and live daily lives in consonance with good behaviour and morality
- respect all other religions – for no religion advocates the negative and lower qualities of man
- perform selfless service to the poor, the sick, and the needy without thought of reward or fame
- cultivate in lives the values of truth, divine love, right conduct, peace, and non-violence and promote these values among all by their way of life
- be patriotic and respect the laws of the country in which they live
There is only one caste, the caste of humanity. There is only one religion, the religion of Love. There is only one language, the language of the heart. There is only one God, He is omnipresent.
